The sisters felt sorely out-of-place returning to the old homestead. They had truly... sadly... left their roots behind...
The cracker house photo came from the Florida State Photo Collection and Archives, the sisters were found during a Google search for vintage dress patterns.
Love the touch of color against the old sepia. You have illustrated this story beautifully through color use and image styling- wonderful entry!
ReplyDeleteStartling contrasts in this piece. The cracker house photo is a real find, and using the contrasting style of the "ladies" with the splash of color is a stroke of genius. Good work!
ReplyDeleteindeed a unique find of this image !
ReplyDeleteI love the feeling of this scene and very well done ! What a wonderful imagination of this weeks theme. Bravo.
What a fun and creative take on this challenge. The girls certainly traveled far from their humble beginnings.

ReplyDeleteYour most beautiful picture reminded me of Dolly Parton! Don't laugh. I saw a documentary on her life some years ago and she and her large family lived in such a tiny house.
ReplyDeleteI love old houses which have so much character and I love the idea of the "girls" making good in the world and then returning to their roots. This is such a lovely and creative piece of art.
Brilliant!
ReplyDeleteStunning, what a fantastic and original piece!
ReplyDeleteJust love this and the theme, the ladies have come along way!
ReplyDeleteWhat a great idea! I really like the contrast between the bright colors of the present and the sepia colors of the past.
