More Flowers...

Are you getting tired of my flowers yet? I'm not! I tried the candle method too... Loved it!

I made another cuff, adjustable with velcro fastening... and left the edges raw, so they would fray...

Made some new little girls hair bands too...

and some grown up ones...

and some on the pop clips...

I guess the black and red ones (they used to be a dress) could have been my Theme Thursday Challenge entry...

Theme Thursday Challenge

The theme for this week's challenge is Red and Black. I know we are supposed to create art for the challenge, but with this theme, I couldn't resist showing this off...

My mom made this heart shaped ceramic box 20 years ago. It's one of my most treasured possessions... As is anything she made or wrote on...

Simple but Effective...

I've have several book marks partially finished for months. I decided to work on some and finish others. My book marks are usually very simple, no elaborate trims or doodling... but I'm getting more daring, so we'll see what the future holds for my book marks....

These are just gold card stock, chiogami paper, Asian text ribber stamps and distress inks and ribbon... Simple but effective...

Vintage Inspired...

I've been making fabric flowers lately... Remember this one?

I made it into a brooch by adding felt and a pin back to the back of it...

and I made this one and turned it into a brooch...

Then I made this lace cuff...

The button is vintage (1.5 inches in diameter) and had been turned into an earring sometime during it's life (I have both). It's "metallic" in luster, but it's plastic, and has a wonderful patina. There are 2 layers of lace, the top one is vintage. I added a strip of felt on the back for comfort and a button closure.  I made it for me, so it's rather small. I may make more, but I'll probably have some pretty fabric under the lace....

Maybe I should buy and learn to use a sewing machine...  just a thought...

Mixed Media Monday Challenge...

This week's theme is to use something we've found... an object, new technique, a supply we just found... Here's my assembled, mixed media brooch.

I found the little brass, pear shaped safety pin attaching a tag to a garment I bought.
I found the vintage, coral colored rose earring in my grandmother's old jewelry box.
I found the vintage gold and pearl rose earring at a favorite thrift store.
I found the vintage pearl and brass cap drops on Etsy.
I found the altered, vintage button in the sweet package that Kimmie sent to us T Tuesday ladies...

Thank Yous...

Thank you so much, my friends, for all the birthday wishes...  Although I have to say that the highlight was my 3 and a half year old grandson singing Happy Birthday to me over the phone...

Austin Rocks! (He has a t-shirt that says that, that I brought to him from Austin, TX before he was born!)

More Finds...

Today is my 50th birthday... I have been contemplating what to do with my latest thrift store finds...

Don't really know what I will do with the type writer ribbon tin... but the old baubble.. can't really figure out what it is... maybe a button... a very ornate button... I know exactly what I will do with... You'll have to wait and see...

Also... I know what I'm going to do with these orphaned tea cups... but you'll have to wait till later in the year to find that out!

I hadn't planned on going anywhere today, but my brother called and needs me to come down to Tampa for something...  So I'm going to take my dog to visit my dad...

Paper Purse

During my purse frenzy, I was fascinated with fusing paper to fabric. So I fused some scrapbook paper with the texture of lizard skin and a wall paper remnant to taffeta, punched holes around the edges and made this...

I glued the two pieces together, folded it up, cut and put the sides in place (creased to form a gusset) and sewed it up with a synthetic yarn. I cut the gecko out of the lizard paper and glued it in place, then added the beads and strap.

Voila! Paper Gecko Purse!
