evidence of life
remnants of growth left behind
grace my patio
D 2010
I had seen the Black Racer scurrying off the patio once as I slid open the door. A few days after that, I found this snake skin in a basket type plant stand filled with epiphytes. I left it there for the birds to use as nest material, if they so chose.

We see a black snake quite often in Florida! It always shocks me...but I know they are good! Enjoy your weekend! ♥ The pics of flowers you took are pretty, too! ♥
ReplyDeleteWow! Now that's something you don't find every day. Wildlife and nature are quite amazing. Have a great weekend. :) Tammy
ReplyDeleteWonderful gift from that guy - and terrific haiku! Personally, I love snake skin!

I love your photo and haiku. Black snakes (and ring snakes) are the only kind of snakes that don't scare me. I think I started not being afraid of them when I read Madeleine L'Engles' "Time Quintet," in which a black snake named Louise the Larger plays an important role as teacher to the main characters.
ReplyDeleteLove your blog design. And thanks for stopping by mine! It's nice to meet a fellow Floridian here in blog world.
What an interesting nesting material -- I would not have left it there, but am glad you did. Keep us posted on how long it's there before someone goes shopping for building materials.
ReplyDeleteyou are very kind to both the snake and the birds - and I guess the plant as well. perfect harmony :)
