Halloween!
A sneak peek of my costume!
The roses are made of wide, wired sheer ribbon. The leaves are natural lacquered leaves....
No, that's not me modeling it... I thought Jack-O-Lee lantern looked absolutely fabulous in it! Don't you?

Tuesday Tea...
I'm enjoying some British Blend decaf tonight... You know how I love my black tea...
This is my latest mismatched tea set... 4 of 5 blue and white flowered cups I found at the Habitat thrift store and the teapot I found at the PAWS thrift store. I think they go quite well together, although there is another white teapot at the PAWS store that might go better, in that it is round and has a rounded handle... We'll just have to see...
I've been drinking tea for as long as I can remember. It was something special that my mom and I shared... Like a tannin colored stream connecting us. It still connects me to her. I had tea sets and tea parties as a child. It was the only girlie thing I did. I still have some of those pieces... some broken and others orphaned... like some children that lose their connections.
I also have teapots and sets that have been handed down through generations in my family... others given as gifts between mother and daughter as I grew up...and still others that I've received and collected myself. They are time machines, connecting me to the past, to my family, to my history...
And to you Dear Tuesday Tea Friends... and in doing so, tea connects all of us to all corners of the world and to times gone by and times not yet experienced... Time machines indeed...
fine china, silver,
stoneware, porcelain, copper...
time machines with spouts

My Favorite Doll Maker...
I got an email from my absolute favorite art doll maker, Griselda, this morning. I have 4 of her dolls and love them dearly. Her more recent work is even more creative and magical... She's an awesome artist!
This one I saw and had to have it...
It represents my mom's spirit perfectly...
old quilt, white feathers, beautiful dark face...
And this little dragonfly spirit, I bought at the same time, because it resembles my spirit...
They hang in my office. Anyway... Gris has a blog, an Etsy shop and a website...
She'd love a visit from you!

Myakka Prairie - Post 1
Florida's Palmetto Prairie habitat is a very floristically diverse ecosystem. One of the reasons for this diversity is that the prairie is a pyric community... That is, it's managed with fire... historically, by natural lightening fires and now by prescribed burns.

Tuesday Tea and Tomorrow's Adventure...
Drinking cold (no ice) decaf black tea tonight... I have this thirst I can't seem to shake today. Anyway, I thought I had posted this pastel painting before, but couldn't find it in my archives... This is Audubon's Crested Cara Cara... a regal bird that lives in Florida's prairie habitat.
I've been planning a field trip for some Board members to drive through the Myakka River watershed. The highlight of the trip will be the drive through the Myakka Prairie. The Myakka River State Park is one of Florida's oldest and largest State Parks. Combine that with adjacent District and County conservation lands and you have one big hunk of Florida. The prairie is mesic, meaning it can be wet or dry depending on the time of year. Tomorrow I'm doing my trip recon... I'm meeting a park biologist and we are going to drive the prairie and determine the best route to take my Board members. Yay!!! I LOVE this place!!! The wildflowers are incredible and hopefully there will be some blooming to photograph... Like these...
Helianthus angustifolia - Narrow Leaved Sunflowers - There's a green spider on one of these. Can you find it?
Helianthus radula - Rayless Sunflowers - They don't look like much here, but they are a beautiful deep violet red in color. They are one of my favorites.
Either way... I'll be gone until Friday night (no the field trip won't be that long, but I have other business down south too)... and I'm planning (again) to do the wine fest Saturday, so hopefully I won't be too worn out (like last time when I had been traveling all week)! So Happy Tea Tuesday and don't forget to visit Kimmie's side bar to find more Tuesday Tea!

Tuesday Tea...
Isn't this the cutest mug cozy!!!!
I found it on Etsy at Natalya's Studio
I just had to feature this cute cozy for Tuesday Tea! Wouldn't a lovely British breakfast blend or maybe a soothing cup of Chamomile tea taste wonderful while being kept warm in this?
Happy Tea Tuesday! For more Tuesday Tea visit Kimmie and look for us on her sidebar.

Busy Bee...
I'm going to be a busy bee this week. I'll be working out of town Tuesday through Friday afternoon. Then I'll be setting up again at the wine fest on Saturday. I don't know whether I'll be able to get online or not, so... have a wonderful and creative week!
