Sunday Postcard Challenge

Here's my (digital) Sunday Postcard... The theme is travel.

 

The ship image came from Flickr Collage Images, the seagull from Google... I can't remember where I got the lovers... probably from one of the freebie sites on my right hand bar... but I couldn't find it again to give them credit (I really should organize my images). If it's yours, please let me know so I can mention it.

4 x 4 Friday Challenge

I had already completed the 3 digital collages for Collage Obsession, when I saw the theme for the 4 x 4 Friday Challenge. The "give me wings" take would have made a great piece for International Women's Day. But... this digital collage will do just as well... I think...

The background and woman through the keyhole are from Diva DEste and the keys are from Flickr Collage Images.

Collage Obsession Challenge

These are my takes on the "stairs" theme for Collage Obsession. I did three digital collages, all along the same lines...  The staircase photos are from Microsoft Clipart Online. Two ladies are from vintage dress pattern envelopes and the last lady and butterfly and moth wings are from my own collection.

 

The first two are more about women's empowerment...

The sentiment is the last stanza of a poem I wrote... It follows the last collage....

 

The last pertains more to the poem...

 

They say there's a stairway

leading to Heaven on high.

They say life is a journey,
the stairs we must climb.

They say we'll be reunited
when I finally get there.

I say, give me wings...
and I'll need no stairs...

T Tuesday - Urban Art

Christen is this week's hostess and she chose "Urban Art" for her theme.  I'm sitting here with snow outside the window having a cup of African Rooibos with lavendar and lemon grass.. I have to admit, I just didn't feel the urban art thing tonight... but I did find some urban art that fit my bill. Below is a mural that is done in ceramic tile on the wall of the Sponge Market in Tarpon Springs, FL.   

Tarpon Springs was settled by Greeks who made their living diving for sponges in the Gulf of Mexico. Today it is a thriving Greek community that is a huge tourist spot.  Happy tea party ladies! I'll be back home tomorrow... 

Still in Snow Country...

We never made it to the cabin.The snow was too deep for the 4 wheeler, so we walked part of the way up in knee deep snow. Walked around for a bit and just enjoyed the woods. I loved it! It was so quiet and beautiful. I know most of you up here in the northeast are tired of the snow, but I am loving it. I've never experienced this before. I'll post some pictures when I get back to Florida and my own computer.

Well, I've been here for a couple of days and I must say I LOVE IT! No I haven't had to live in it and shovel it and deal with for a any amount of time... but I'm strangely at home in it... I even told my husbands family that when he's gone I might move up here! Ok.. My brother in law just called and we are going up to the cabin... Have a great day all... I'll post pics when I can!

Headed for Snow Country...

I'll be leaving for the air port in a bit. I'm flying to snowy New York (hope I packed enough layers) for my MIL's funeral. I'll be glad to see my hubber... and finally meet his sister. I don't know how much I'll be able to get online, but I'll try to keep up to date... don't think I'll be creating much up there... But I'll take lots of pictures and write. Here's a Florida scene that Edna painted for Bruce and I for a wedding present...
